However, when you look deeper, that's where the similarities end. Blackbird is the first web browser built with African Americans in mind: it comes preloaded with Bookmarks aimed at the "Black Community", and also will "move information from African American sites" higher in your search results. Although it may seem that you would be out of place using this browser (as opposed to "regular" Firefox) if you are not a part of the African-American Community, Blackbird has a built in content channel called "Do Good" that connects users to various charitable organizations...that's something any race or nationality can identify with.

Now, from a technological standpoint, my biggest issue with Blackbird is that it is built off of the Firefox 3 coding...which means it is pushing THREE YEARS OLD this year. In Technology-years, that means it is close to obsolescence (especially with the HTML5 compliant Mozilla Firefox 4). The "social-conscious" plugins, although very positive to the community, can be manually added to an existing, "regular" version of Firefox via Firefox's add-ons.

So my recommendation...skip Blackbird, download the most recent Mozilla Firefox 4 (or if you're feeling gutsy, try out the beta version), and browse the Social & Communication add-ons to stay connected with your favorite charitable organization.

See what you think. Download Here.

Visa Mobile. It will also let you, potentially, pay bills from your home. Although it sounds very similar to mobile banking programs for cell phones that Bank of America and Chase already offer, Visa Mobile will let you make mobile payments in retail locations nationwide, or while on the go, over wireless networks. This kinda makes me want a G1 more...although, I never make "purchases" from my cell phone, though.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://the-seed.blogspot.com/2008/12/visa-mobile-exclusively-on-t-mobile-g1.html' title='Visa Mobile. From MS Word documents, to videos for your iPhone, to youtube videos. It will even compress and "zip" your files for you. I tried it (and though kinda slow) it actually worked. Both are available Jan. 29, 2009 (Angora-$299, Angora Pro-$399)....first one to get one, drop me a line! ...gotta order from Australia, though.

More

iPhone for $99!!! Now, 4GB is certainly enough for some songs and short music videos, but someone who really buys one of these is probably not really concerned about storage space....just that they have and "iPhone".

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://the-seed.blogspot.com/2008/12/iphone-for-99-at-walmart.html' title='iPhone for $99!!!
